FIN#592948216 #CH32681 Our Philosophy The arts are good for business – and business is good for the arts. The economic impact of a vibrant arts and cultural sector is important and unique, helping to attract and retain businesses and a talented workforce, supporting jobs, generating government revenue, serving as the cornerstone of tourism, inducing large amounts of related and ancillary spending by audiences, and helping local businesses thrive. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, for example, now publishes an annual Arts & Cultural Production Satellite Account, which extends beyond the nonprofit sector to include the full breadth of commercial and for-profit arts, education, and individual artists and lists the sector as a $730 billion industry (4.2 percent of the nation’s GDP – a larger share of the economy than transportation, tourism, agriculture, and construction).
