At any stage in development, the state is faced with a complex slate rife with ’wicked’ development challenges. A study of Public Policy informs the state of appropriate and viable responses to these dynamic challenges. Thus, emerges a demand for trained professionals who are equipped to shape such responses and are skilled in formulating, designing, implementing, and evaluating Public Policy and public programmes. The Institute for Public Policy (IPP) housed at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, a premier Law University, strives to nurture young professionals to be policy practitioners capable of solving these challenges. IPP derives inspiration from our transformative constitution and emphasises a dialectical pedagogy that prepares students to question the complexities in the practice of Public Policy and address the contemporary challenges of a pluralistic society. IPP offers a Master’s Programme in Public Policy – a two-year residential interdisciplinary programme with a special thrust on law as an interface between inclusive sustainable development and public policy. IPP also offers an Integrated Ph.D Programme in Public Policy to promote contextual inter-disciplinary research and knowledge generation in the field of Public Policy.
