Student/Partner Alliance
www.studentpartneralliance.orgStudent/Partner Alliance (S/PA) is a New Jersey non-profit organization, which provides economically disadvantaged, but motivated youth from NJ's urban areas with private high school tuition assistance and mentoring support to help them to earn their high school diplomas and pursue college opportunities. During the 2018-2019 school year, we are supporting 190 students at seven high schools in the greater Newark and Jersey City areas. Student/Partner Alliance was founded in 1993 and since then has offered 2050 scholarships to students. 90% of S/PA students come from homes with family incomes of less than $35,000 and many come from single-parent homes. 99% of S/PA students graduate from their high school and continue to college. S/PA students are matched with a mentor who offers guidance and encouragement throughout the student's four years in high school. We organize a variety of events throughout the school year where students and their mentors can get together. Our students are 55% African-American, 30% Hispanic/Latino and 15% Caribbean, African and other. The students attend schools that provide a college preparatory education in a safe, structured environment. Our supporters include a large number of individuals, foundations, churches, rotary groups, and corporations.
