CR biomed is the Costa Rican Biotech Cluster, I&D in Life Sciences Business Association working as a cluster together with government and academia. Our main goals are: a. to position Costa Rica in the global biotech value chain b. to advocate on local life sciences policies c. to promote the local development of the industry Our cluster is closely engaged with the national governmental and academic organizations such as PROCOMER (foreign trade promotion agency), CINDE (foreign investment promotion agency), TEC (Technological Institute of Costa Rica), all of which are highly motivated in contributing to the development of the national biotech and medical device industries. Our members are leading individuals and companies from diverse backgrounds and applications, with the common interest of positioning Costa Rican products and services throughout international networking. Recent projects: 1. ASEBIO - close collaboration with our sister biotech business association from Spain - ASEBIO - setting the grounds for partnerships and delegation participations from Costa Rica at BIOLATAM 2013, 2015, 2016 and BIOSPAIN 2014, 2016. 2.TEC - Institute of Technology of Costa Rica carrying out study of the local biotech business climate and how to improve it 3. PROCOMER/CINDE - promoting Costa Rican biotech in specialized events worldwide; promoting local and international collaborations for networking opportunities with companies worldwide 4. BVGH - constructing a solid relationship for improving technology transfer capacities and supporting partnership opportunities for Costa Rican companies, research institutions and commercial interests in the field of biotechnology 5.
