SHPE - Houston Professional Chapter
www.shpehouston.org"SHPE Houston is a network of mentors, role models, and leaders in STEM brought together to inspire, motivate, and empower the Greater Houston Hispanic community." The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc Houston (SHPE Houston) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to promoting careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Our chapter executes over 30 projects annually targeting Elementary, Middle School, and High School students and awards scholarships to students pursuing college. Between 2015-2017, we engaged and impacted over 2,500 K-12 and college students. In addition, our award-winning professioal development programs have earned us the designation of National Large Chapter of the Year in 2015, 2016, and 2017. We are nurturing a Greater Houston STEM Ecosystem working closely with area college students at the University of Houston, Rice University, Lamar University, Prairie View A&M University, Texas A&M, and UT Tyler at HCC to support and mentor their membership, as well as to partner in engaging with K-12 students and their parents. We operate on membership dues and tax-deductible and in-kind donations. We offer a plethora of opportunities for STEM professionals to build a legacy, connect and create bonds, and deliver the value of their network through community leadership, mentorship, and networking and soft-skills development programs. If you are looking to give back to your community, help increase the number of students entering the STEM fields, and participate in peer-to-peer mentoring, this is the organization for you.
