M81 is a System software editor on IBM i. The 3 products built by M81, help IT teams to better manage their systems; they address complex areas, but are very simple to implement and IT teams can work daily with them very easily. They run on 350 IBM i partitions in 15 countries. The products: >>> "Flash for i" to manage from the IBM i, SnapShots/FlashCopies of the External Storage (IBM Storwize/SVC/FlashSystems/DS or EMC vMax/Unity or PureStorage); Objectives = create and completely manage the use of an exact clone of the IBM i production partition (generated in less than 2 minutes !). The use cases: * to run hot backups, "user" backups or "full" backups (Save21), with or w/o BRMS, with ASP and/or iASP, on tapes or VTL * to start new environments for tests /validation/acceptance/preprod/education/ anonymization/... * to make recovery/rollback copies - to extract data or to execute SQL queries, ... >>> "Control for i" to upload all the IBM i events/issues/alerts into your existing monitoring solution (Nagios, PRTG and hundred of others including forks, distributions or SaaS solutions). - more than 130 standard controls are supplied to monitor systems, applications, messages, HA, EDI, backups, batches, ERP, transfers, middlewares, databases, logs, ... - you can customize them on IBM i, then after a few tests on IBM i, just easily copy the control in Nagios (or others) - allow you to integrate your existing controls (probes) already developed on IBM i and of course to develop new ones. - allow also to answer automatically to some types of messages >>> "Recover for i" : is a very good complement to a "cold backup" solution. It automates the hot incremental backups of your data (for example every 10 minutes) and externalizes them on site or off site => only 10 min data loss after a crash disk or a disaster or after a data corruption (program bug, error or malicious act, malware, ...). Of course, Recover for i automates the recovery process.
