In August 2019, Nishimura & Asahi agreed to acquire SCL Group, one of Thailand's leading local firms, and to form a new combined firm, SCL Nishimura. Nishimura & Asahi has four domestic offices in Japan and twelve overseas offices, in Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, New York, Singapore, Taipei, Yangon, and Hong Kong. We first opened a Bangkok office in 2013, under the name Nishimura & Asahi (Thailand) Co., Ltd. In 2019, we drastically expanded our capacity in Thailand through an alliance with one of Thailand’s leading firms, SCL Group. The deal had created one of Thailand’s largest Japanese law firms, as well as one of the largest, well-resourced and most diverse international business law practices in Southeast Asia. Following the acquisition, the new firm now operates under the name SCL Nishimura & Asahi Limited, and comprises over 100 lawyers and professional staff providing top-quality legal and business-advisory services. SCL Nishimura & Asahi Limited will have a significantly larger support structure, thereby establishing a stronger presence in the Thai legal market and meeting the growing and varied demands for legal services throughout the Southeast Asia region.
