History In 1988, local citizens founded Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation (MAEF) as a non-profit organization. Independent from the Mahtomedi Public School District 832, MAEF fulfills the need for enhanced programming which could not be funded through school budgets and appropriations. Mission We foster the interest and advancement of public education through community involvement, endowed support, and the promotion of effective teaching and learning for our students and community. We satisfy our mission by providing significant financial support to students, teachers and staff, through scholarships, facility and technology improvements, and grants for curriculum development and continuing education. Funding Priorities The Foundation is excited to move forward in its support of students, teachers, and community in the following areas: STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. While the above were identified as priorities, MAEF will continue its support of the following other areas of interest: Literacy, Health (Mental and Physical).
