The Institute is the result of a cooperation agreement between Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and Chongqing University (CQU). It has been developing a systemic multifaceted project investing also in areas with the highest innovative content, such as scientific research and academic cooperation. The strong partnership with Chongqing University – the most important and prestigious university in the city – gives Galileo Galilei Italian Institute great visibility and allows it to have an effective impact. The major tasks of the institute are: • The coordination of the “Sino-Italian Innovation Base-Camp” project (SIIB-C): The SIIB-C project stemmed from the cooperation between Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Chongqing University and Bishan District; • The strengthening of joint research projects on areas of expertise shared by Sant’Anna and CQU. These include Innovation Management, Health and Wellbeing Management, Augmented Reality and Bio-robotics, Photonics, Software Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering, Biotechnology, Economics, Legal and Institutional Systems; • Facilitating interaction opportunities between academics, researchers and scholars of Sant’Anna and Chongqing University. • The Sino-Italian Cooperation through the academic cooperation, the support to Italian delegations and companies in Chongqing and support to Italian students; • Organization of Italian culture and language activities.
