In 1949, Sterling Edwards built the first Edwards R-26, an American sports car. He was also instrumental in bringing road racing to the west coast, particularly to Pebble Beach as prior to Laguna Seca, the races were held on 17-Mile Drive. During his racing, Sterling won the very first best in show at Concours D'Elegance in 1950 in his eponymous automobile. Sterling passed on his love of cars, planes, and all things mechanical to his son, S. Hammond Edwards, who comes by his love of everything machine-driven honestly. In 1973, Hammond purchased his very first car, a 1972 Triumph TR6, to start his collection. Working to afford his car, Hammond pumped gas for two years while still in high school. Keeping his car in tip top shape, he's rebuilt the engine three times and added a supercharger. Everything started here. Over the years, Hammond has collected a few cars and desired to have a place where other automotive enthusiasts and collectors could gather together to talk and celebrate all things cars, and the rest is history.
