POG Cinema Advertising

Pot O’ Gold Cinema Advertising was born when founder and budding entrepreneur Clarke Mazza tried to get his advertisement for his business as a music instructor on screen at his local AMC theater back in 1984. He was astonished to find out the local AMC charged $1200 to produce and show slides for a month on one screen, and there wasn’t even audio! Back in 1984 the cost of a movie ticket was only $3.36 compared to $8.89 in 2016! While Clarke was convinced cinema advertising was a great way to reach people, he was also convinced there was a better way to produce this advertising, both for business owners and theater owners. AMC only had a couple of advertisers at the time, and now Clarke knew why. With that Clarke found his calling. Pot O’ Gold Cinema Advertising (also known as POG) was born, and Clarke’s mission was to help other small businesses get their ads shown at the local movie theaters while simultaneously making theater owners more revenue per screen off their advertising due to increased sales. Clarke started selling advertising for four local movie screens in Jacksonville, Florida. He got his own equipment and started out making the slides himself. As time progressed and the business grew he brought on new employees and continually adapted to the continual changes of the movie theater advertising business. Throughout the years POG has always maintained its focus on providing lower cost advertising for local businesses, but selling more volume so that both theater owners and advertisers are better off. POG has since expanded and worked with theaters in 35 different states, showing custom-tailored versions of its pre-show advertising program CineMission that highlights local businesses at each location.
