Centre for Psychological and Relationship Counselling
www.psychcentre.orgBased in Melbourne, Australia, the Centre, which was established in 1998, provides a counselling service which offers experience in an extensive array of psychological problems for individuals (adults, adolescents and children), couples and families. Our practice aims to help people in a respectful and meaningful manner. The therapeutic techniques are tailored to the client and their needs, but predominantly we use Cognitive Behavioural techniques which address the impact of a person's thoughts on their feelings and behaviour. Practice Management and Associate Conditions The centre has five sites in the north of Melbourne, with all management, except billing, conducted from 227 Bell St, Preston. Clients of the Centre are allocated to the most suitable psychologist, from a single waiting list. Psychologists at the centre are sole-trader practitoners working as "associates", to common professional standards mandated by the Centre, and agreed upon at periodic professional practice meetings. The Centre was established with the principle objective of providing a supportive, collaborative and collegiate workplace for psychologists, who otherwise work alone. A professional working in such an environment is thus able to provide the best possible service to their clients. Service charges to psychologists are used to pay for practice management costs, rather than being taken out of the company, and thus client fees are kept as low as possible.
