Look Good Feel Better is the only global cancer support charity. It was created over 30 years ago to help with both the physical and emotional side effects of treatment. The charity's confidence-boosting services are available in 27 countries and collectively it has supported c.2 million people. Launched in the UK in 1994 our main aim is to greatly increase people's self-esteem at a very difficult time in their lives. Pre Covid our free confidence boosting workshops were held all over the country for women, young adults and men who are undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. In our face to face sessions, volunteers help people address a number of issues that they may be facing, such as; dry, sensitive skin; redness; sallow skin; recreating missing eyebrows and for the men, local barbers offer advice on shaving, skin issues, scarring and sun protection. We also produce information booklets and a host of online tutorials. The most important element of our service is that it brings people together who are all going through similar challenges, giving them a space to share experiences, learn new skills and chat to each other. There is usually a great deal of laughter in our sessions! Our Virtual Workshops are providing much needed support at a time when people with cancer tell us they are feeling more worried, stressed and isolated than ever.
