Since 2012, Furnish the Homeless operates as a student-run organization at the University of California, Los Angeles. In its first year, Furnish the Homeless fully furnished twelve residences, donated over thirty items of furniture to the Los Angeles Mission, and became a distinguished organization on campus and throughout the Los Angeles community. As of September 2017, Furnish the Homeless has helped furnished 100+ clients, and collected 600+ furniture items. Furnish the Homeless operates through quarterly drives in the following months: December, March, and June. Besides our quarterly drives that help facilitate previously homeless individual’s transition into permanent housing, we also aim to educate the entire student body on homelessness and how to break the cycle of poverty.
