We believe that in order for social networks to flourish and benefit its members, the data of users must be their own and not for sale, the network must relay messages with perfect fidelity and without bias, and the control for filtering belongs in the hands of the users themselves. Concept Pictalk is a multi-feed platform providing a connection space for friends and family, a networking of shared interests through curated media & user-generated spaces, and a forum for the constructive debate of ideas. Engineering The platform incorporates AWS Auto Scaling and Load Balancing. Managed data services include Couchbase Capella for high-speed indexing, Atlas managed MongoDB for persistence and AWS managed Elasticsearch for quick content retrieval. Security All data services run behind our Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). CloudFront (CF) resides in front of load balancers. CF Web Application Firewall (WAF) turned on for DDOS protection etc. CF geo restrictions set up to prevent foreign access and GDPR conflicts. SSL/TLS Certificates are provisioned using AWS Certificate Manager.
