SafeWander is a wearable sensor system that protects the safety of patients who wander out of bed and relieves burdens on their caregivers. The system consists of a sensor, a transmitter, and a smartphone app. The sensor is worn on the bottom of the patient's foot or embedded in a sock. Once the patient steps onto the floor, the sensor detects an increase in pressure caused by body weight and wirelessly sends an audible alert to the caregiver's Smartphone.
