From Me to You
www.frommetoyouconsulting.com.auFrom Me to You was created by Peta Dampney, a lived experience speaker, consultant, advocate and trainer to offer individuals and organisations the opportunity to access training and consulting from a voice skilled in presenting, facilitating and co-ordinating training and community events. Peta is a former high school teacher, but she has also worked as a tour manager, researcher, actor, workshop facilitator and theatre practitioner. Since the birth of her son Bowie back in 2016, Peta has been a powerful voice as an advocate in suicide prevention and mental health in Australia. She has worked with Suicide Prevention Australia, Roses in the Ocean, The Blackdog Institute, Everymind, Mindframe and The Gidget Foundation on their projects and national campaigns. As someone who survived a suicide attempt over 13 years ago, lost an Uncle to suicide, has intervened in attempts and who has also experienced bouts of suicidal thinking and depression, suicide is a well known concept. Peta has also experienced anxiety and suffered from perinatal anxiety and depression following the birth of her son. To maintain good mental wellbeing, Peta knows the vital importance of self-compassion and self-care: "Living with a mental illness makes me a better communicator. It makes me honest with myself and others. Because of my commitment to living the best life I can it motivates me to be more mindful, appreciative and loving. It makes me laugh more." "My experience of suicide does not define me, my experience of living does." Peta is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor and also offers customised training and consulting opportunities. She has a particular interest and passion in community wellbeing and placemaking projects. She is currently developing a framework for a Not For Profit Wellbeing Collaborative in Wynnum, Brisbane.
