METRONET
www.metronet.wa.gov.auThe single largest investment in public transport that Perth has seen, METRONET will positively change how people live and travel in Perth. Over the life of the program thousands of jobs will be created to plan, design and build approximately 72 kilometres of new passenger rail and 22 new stations. Much more than an infrastructure investment program, METRONET is influencing over 8,000 hectares of land around new stations, by working across the public and private sector to create desirable places for investment in housing, jobs and services for growing communities. The METRONET Office brings together a team from across WA Government to plan these projects which consider what people need for work, living and recreation within these future urban centres with a train station at its heart. The METRONET Office then plays a key oversight role as the transport infrastructure projects move into construction to ensure the rail and land use objectives are met. Government agencies involved in METRONET include: • Public Transport Authority • Department of Transport • DevelopmentWA • Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage • Department of Communities
