National Centre for Early Music
www.ncem.co.ukThe NCEM is the flagship for early music in England. It works to promote public understanding and enjoyment of early music through historically informed performances, annual festivals (The York Early Music Festival, Beverley and East Riding Early Music Festival and the York Early Music Christmas Festival) and digital technology, supported by a clearly focused learning and participation programme. To support our organisation, we also operate a thriving venue for conferences and private occasions. CONFERENCES Our versatile space makes the NCEM an excellent choice for conferences, meetings and away days. Combining an elegant historic building with state-of-the-art conference equipment we are able to create an unparalleled setting in the City. The NCEM offers a flexible space with two breakout spaces and an outdoor area, which can be used in fine weather. Conference organisers from all over the country are impressed with the quality of the space and the efficiency of the staff. CELEBRATIONS & PARTIES The NCEM can be hired for wedding receptions, special anniversary parties, and dinners – offering a stunning backdrop. It can accommodate up to 120 guests for a sit down meal or 150 for a buffet reception. To personalise the space, it is possible to decorate the church, foyer and garden and we can arrange advance access for you. Our staff are on hand to make sure that all runs smoothly and that you enjoy your occasion. RECORDING The NCEM has a natural acoustic for recording sessions. It has triple glazing, silent underfloor heating, soundproofing and acoustic treatment to tailor your sound. It is suitable for live recordings or studio sessions. With a range of well-maintained early music keyboard instruments we are able to offer many support services including session engineers, catering and accommodation. The venue is used by early music specialists as well as jazz, folk and world musicians and BBC Radio 3 records and broadcasts regularly.
