Cambridge University Boat Club
www.cubc.org.ukThe primary objective of the CUBC remains victory over Oxford in the annual University Boat Race. The race is contested on the Thames over a grueling four-and-a-quarter mile course. Cambridge holds the historical advantage over Oxford, with 81 - 78 wins since the race's inception in 1829. To achieve its objective the CUBC attracts talent from across the world, from top juniors to seasoned Olympians. The club's ability to develop the talent it receives, via world-class coaching and facility provision, is exemplified by recent members such as George Nash (G 09, BB 10,11,13*) and Tom James (BB 03,05,06,07*) who joined as schoolboys and left as Olympians. The club also produces Blondie and Goldie crews every year to face Oxford's reserve crews Osiris and Isis. The reserve races are a critical component of the CUBC system, providing a testing ground for future Blues and internationals. The CUBC maintains its supremacy in the Isis-Goldie race, leading the series 29-21.
