Since 1st October 2004, the three partners Arnaldo Carzaniga, Philipp Hediger and Markus Rück have managed the Galerie Carzaniga in the old town of Basel. The baseline for the gallery’s activities are within the tradition of the former Galerie Carzaniga + Ueker, including exhibitions of classic Swiss art (incl. Gruppe Rot-Blau and Gruppe 33), abstract expressionism, and informal art from Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. Shows with works by contemporary artists complement the programme. Although the focus lies on painting, a variety of other media, such as drawing, sculpture, and photography find representation. The gallery’s rooms spread over a historic building in the old town near the historic gate of Spalen and offer a beautiful environment for the exhibitions of 20th- and 21st-century art. The lush courtyard offers space for the presentation of sculptures in the open air. Exhibitions change every 6 to 8 weeks and are accompanied by catalogues and monographs published by Galerie Carzaniga.
