The UWA Data Institute (DI) is a gateway for data intensive industries and government agencies to UWA’s expertise in applied data science, the understanding of responsible use of data and data science for industry and our society broadly. Drawing on UWA’s requisite depth of expertise across disciplines and cross-discipline industry sector networks, we are creating fresh opportunities to address the emerging real world challenges in transforming a vast volume of diverse types of data into knowledge to support data-driven decisions. Our vision is to be the leading academic institute for impactful, translatable and responsible data science for industry, government and the wider society. What We Do: *Run dynamic in-person and virtual events for sharing data science advances in different industry sectors and research disciplines *Run networking events for cross-sector industry/government communications enabling access to UWA students across different disciplines *Design and run courses for key decision makers in industry and governments to prepare them for the effective and responsible use of automation and AI *Provide new opportunities and grow the current industry engagement for UWA researchers *Increase opportunities for cross-pollination of research advances across disciplines *Provide industry and governments access and linkages to talented UWA data scientists
