The Kilimanjaro Project

www.thekilimanjaroproject.org

The Kilimanjaro Project is an environmental and social impact initiative. We love trees and want to inspire tree growing and forest protection around Kilimanjaro, Tanzania and across East Africa. We are inspired by the words of Tanzania's founding President, "Let us a light a candle on top of Kilimanjaro, to be a light that shines beyond our borders, to give hope where there is despair, love where there is hatred and dignity where before there was only humiliation." The Kilimanjaro Project commits to: - Impact the local climate and forest ecosystems. - Raise global awareness of local climate change and glacial decline on Mt. Kilimanjaro - Educate schools and the youth on the importance and process of forest protection and reforestation - Create jobs by empowering local people to grow, plant and maintain trees in needy areas - Improve livelihoods by encouraging the development of natural resources and forest products - Use Mobile app technology will monitor tree survival, health and provide data reporting through an online portal ensuring transparency with organisations and donors Currently we are working in partnership with GIZ and a multi-stakeholder initiative on a water stewardship program in the Pangani river Basin, restoring riparian zones along rivers in the Arusha and Kilimanjaro Regions. We campaign for trees through our "Tuje Pamoja" Campaign. We believe that together we can ensure a brighter greener future for all!
