TheVinylPress.com A Magazine of Modern Recorded Music History
www.thevinylpress.comThis web magazine is devoted to music on vinyl, particularly older pressings, some collectible, some very accessible- that all share two things: they are interesting, musically, and sound good sonically. The site contains feature articles, reviews, and interviews, with a particular focus on the story behind the recordings, and the producers, engineers and others that influenced and changed the sound of popular music. The premiere issue featured a visit to the Library of Congress audio-visual archive, a discussion of basic vinyl record cleaning practices, reviews of a number of important (and some forgotten) records, along with an introduction to the Vertigo Swirl label from the late 60's. We also feature practical articles on record buying, cleaning and collecting. The site is intended to appeal not only to collectors, audiophiles and music history buffs, but to newer generations of listeners, and can serve as an introduction to many artists, labels and albums that are not on everyone's radar.
