The Cricket Biomechanist
www.thecricketbiomechanist.comThe Cricket Biomechanist was idealised in 2018, as a platform to educate and develop coaches’ application of biomechanics in cricket. Now in 2021, I believe that I have the necessary mix of academic skill, applied practice and coaching interaction to tackle this task. Biomechanics, the study of the human body and it’s physical movement, is one of the three key pillars of Sports Science, alongside Physiology (the study of the function of the human body) and Psychology (the study of the human mind and behaviour). Unlike Physiology and Psychology, where specialists are employed within sport to apply and share their expertise, the interpretation and application of Biomechanics is solely left to the coach due to its close link with technique. The knowledge available for coaches to evolve their fundamental understanding, decipher the science governing current practice, and develop biomechanically sound technical processes is limited, and often clouded by the rapidly revolving social media era. The Cricket Biomechanist aims to fill this void, and provide the resource which provides better technical coaching for the next generation at all levels of the game.
