A non-profit with a mission to cancel the culture of silence on harassment and bullying in the workplace. There is a problem which exists within companies where complaints around harassment and bullying raised by employees, either formally or informally, are diminished, dismissed or 'swept under the carpet'. The culture of silence on this issue means that employees often feel their experience is isolated resulting in reluctance to come forwards due to fear of being 'labelled a troublemaker', being dismissed as overly sensitive and believing that raising a complaint may negatively impact their careers. Consequently, harassment and bullying runs silently rampant in businesses often with significant negative impacts on the personal lives and professional careers of those effected. At Speak Out we believe in challenging the accepted culture of silence for employees on harassment and bullying in the workplace. We believe that those who raise complaints should be taken seriously, have their complaints handled appropriately and resolved rapidly. We support this through our mission: 1. To create the largest anonymous database of harassment and bullying experiences in the UK by encouraging everyone to cancel the culture of silence and complete the Speak Out survey. 2. To increase organisational transparency into UK harassment and bullying experiences equipping all with clear insight into their current or future employer.
