Thrive City is a community-based organization purposing to provide opportunity for ALL people to thrive together. The goal of Thrive City is to improve the likelihood of at-risk youth to be academically, socially, and personally successful so they are ready for life beyond the high school experience, surrounded by and connected to positive family and community support. Thrive City accomplishes this mission in partnership with local businesses, organizations, and individuals to eliminate barriers and promote ongoing positive involvement as a community contributor. Utilizing the From Failing to Thriving curriculum, participants explore a five-step process going from Rock Bottom to Becoming a Contributor while traveling throughout the city, engaging in experiential learning, critical thinking, and personal application. The curriculum and programs of Thrive City incorporate a strengths-based approach within the disciplines of psychology, social justice, education, and creative arts to effectively promoted thriving in adolescents. Thrive City runs the Experiencing Seattle: From Failing to Thriving curriculum for teens as an after school program as well as a during the school day "mini-course" for at-risk youth while also providing complementary services, including counseling (mental health and chemical dependency), college and career support, access to local internships, mentors, family integration, and a weekly activities center with barista training, community garden project, graphic design, skate-boarding, and more.
