DPS has a vision where all people have the opportunity to conquer their fear of dying and find peace knowing that death is just part of this wonderful journey we call life. For the past 2 decades, prestigious institutions such as Johns Hopkins, NYU and UCLA have conducted clinical research using psilocybin to ease anxiety and depression in patients with advanced-stage cancer. The studies have consistently shown that the use of psilocybin, along with psychotherapy, significantly reduced participants’ fears and other symptoms, while increasing overall well-being and acceptance toward dying. Participants reported, "tremendous connection to everyone”, “feelings of pure love" and feeling that "death doesn't frighten me." DPS felt that the timing was right to pair end-of-life doulas with psychedelic-trained psychotherapists to offer a specially curated psilocybin experience to help individuals faced with life-threatening illnesses the opportunity to explore what a good death means to them. Families are encouraged to attend as it is also a time to deepen or repair bonds with loved ones. DPS also arranges private retreats for families or clinicians and their private clients. Our approach is to: -Cultivate Awe, Awareness, and Wonder for Life and Death -Empower Those at End-of-Life to Choose How They Want to Die -Healing Spiritual and Emotional Pain -Enable Good, Peaceful Deaths Additionally, DPS offers the first of its kind Psychedelic End-of-Life Doula Training. The program pairs traditional doula certification with a psychedelic experiential component in Jamaica where psilocybin is legal. Trainees experience two psilocybin journeys, along with training on the benefits and practices of using psilocybin for their clients. For already certified doulas or hospice/palliative care professionals. DPS offers just the experiential component in Jamaica.
