This award-winning novel was adapted for the screen by Tonya Lewis Lee for the 50th anniversary of the pivotal events of the Civil Rights Movement. At present, ToniK is in development on several book adaptations including: The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter which revolves around an international spy school for girls, Monster by Walter Dean Myers, which follows 16 year old Steve, an aspiring filmmaker, as he suddenly finds himself on trial for his life, and Gotham Diaries, the best selling novel from Tonya Lewis Lee and Crystal McCrary Anthony which is a witty, savvy, and intriguing expose of the upper echelons of New York African American society.
