The story of Internazionali BNL d’Italia began in 1930 at the Tennis Club Milano, but since 1935 has permanently moved to the Foro Italico in Rome. The Internazionali BNL d’Italia are now part of the ATP tour Masters 1000 and WTA Premier, the best tournaments in the world, second only to the Grand Slams Tour. In 2011, for the first time, the “combined formula” was introduced and is still used today in the Tournament. On the courts of Foro Italico, starting from the beginning of May, ATP and WTA champions will compete with continuous and simultaneous matches. The 2019 edition will begin during the second weekend of May and culminate on Sunday 19th with men's and women's Finals.
