Liger Leadership Academy New Zealand
www.ligeracademy.org.nzThe Liger Leadership Academy is designed to educate promising youth of today to develop socially conscious, entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow. At the core of the Liger Learning© model are project-based learning experiences and opportunities that develop leadership skills and the ability for learners to create impact in their own lives, in their community and in the world around them. The learning is personalised to the individual, so every learner has their own pathway through the six-year curriculum. The Liger Leadership Academy was first established by local residents and entrepreneurial duo Trevor Gile and Agnieszka Tynkiewicz-Gile in 2012, with a pilot programme in South-East Asia. Now, proven and tested, the Academy has recruited a New Zealand faculty to introduce the model in our beautiful backyard, in Queenstown. The Academy will be offering two programmes. The first will be the Liger Discovery Club; a programme hosted once a week to introduce year 7 students to the Liger Learning© model. The second will be for the first cohort of students to the full Liger Leadership Academy secondary programme for years 8–13. While the Academy is set up as a private school, it is operated under a not-for-profit Charitable Foundation which in turn, will provide a strong scholarship programme. There will be generous scholarships offered to ensure there are no barriers for learners to attend.
