The Ferrier Research Institute is a world-leading team of chemists, biochemists, and analysts carrying out fundamental, applied and commercial research bringing better drugs, materials and technology to the world.  We strive to be an example of how collaborative, curiosity-driven, intelligent science leads to economic and societal impact. Our scientists have advanced expertise across chemistry and biology, and deep experience in synthetic carbohydrate and medicinal chemistry, synthetic and chemical biology, plant natural products and polysaccharide analysis. Postgraduate students We offer high-achieving postgraduate science students a unique opportunity to learn from, and alongside, world-leading chemistry and biochemistry experts and researchers with a track-record of identifying, developing, and bringing new compound to market. The Master of Drug Discovery and Development, over 12-months of study, teaches students how to to identify drug targets, develop new therapeutics, and help improve human or animal health through creating new or more effective drugs and medicines. They also learn about protecting intellectual property, assessing the financial viability of drugs, and the pre-clinical and clinical trial processes. We can also supervise PhD research. Partner with us At our Gracefield site we are co-located with GlycoSyn, who manufacture drug candidates for early phase clinical trials. Together we can provide access to leading research capability and scale-up technology for all stages of your chemistry development and manufacturing challenges. Support our research We are grateful for our funders, whose support is vitally important to our ability to continue hunting down treatments for many unmet medical needs. If you would like to support our work, we would love to hear from you.
