Once-A-Month

www.onceamonth.org.za

Since 2019, Once-A-Month aims to revolt against social inequalities in South Africa that allows period poverty to persist. Period poverty is the unaffordability of period/feminine hygiene products as well as the lack of access to accurate menstrual education. Our founder and menstrual activist, Jane Henry-Naiho turned her passion for ensuring menstrual justice into reality through hosting community pad drives and spreading awareness on podcasts and radio shows. She understands the indignity that comes with period poverty. Her personal experiences have inspired her to dream of a world where underprivileged and vulnerable women living in South Africa do not have to choose between food or pads. Through our impact pillars, donate, educate and advocate, Once-A-Month has donated over 30,000 menstrual products, produced menstrual health educational books, and has worked with over 10 grassroots community initiatives, high schools, and nonprofits to contribute to the fight against period poverty and menstrual injustice. Menstrual rights are human rights.
