Butlers Wine & Spirits
www.butlerliquors.comJames P. Butler returned from WWII and was granted a NYS Liquor license in September of 1945. Butler's Liquors was born on the corner of High & Lemon streets in Buffalo's "Fruitbelt". With help and encouragement from NYS Assemblyman William J. Butler (Mark's Grandfather), the Butler's family business was on its way. James appeal in a very competitive business was his devotion to his customers, hard work ethic and his interest in the community. After a move to the suburbs in 1970 (Sheridan Plaza, Town of Tonawanda) they opened on the westside of the plaza which was next to the then Marine Midland Bank (now HSBC). In 1972 it was over to the eastside of the plaza (current larger location) which was at the time next to the old Acme supermarket (currently Sears Hardware). Many neighbors later and after several remodels the business is still there today. Mark J. Butler joined the business in December of 1980 upon graduation from Geneseo State University. He became part owner in 1985 and completed purchase of the business in 1995 upon James's retirement. With a strong sense of dedication and an appreciation of it's loyal neighborhood cliental, Mark is proud to be still there to meet and greet his customers, some of them second and third generations! At the time of this writing, Butler's has been in business 64 years! A true fixture in the community.
