Royal South Street Society
www.royalsouthstreet.com.auRoyal South Street Society is Australia's foremost Eisteddfod, promoting, fostering and encouraging participation and interest in the performing arts. This is our 125th year of pure performance gold! Mission Statement: To conduct Australia’s foremost Eisteddfod, promoting, fostering and encouraging participation and interest in the performing arts. Values: We are friendly and professional. We are respectful of diversity. We act with honesty and integrity. We are committed to excellence. We provide opportunities for personal growth (experience, self esteem, participation and performance). Royal South Street Society Competitions: The Competitions currently run from July to November each year. They cover 14 theatrical disciplines of voice, music, and movements, providing some 40,000+ on-stage performance opportunities for artists from all over Australia. We use four or more venues, including the historical Her Majesty’s Theatre. There are nine Board members, plus partners, and a small office staff, who organise the annual event. We are assisted by theatre staff, Fire Brigade, and over 200+ volunteers who willingly help as writers, ushers, back stage crew, and chairmen etc. The total voluntary input to stage the Eisteddfod annually equates to around 18,000 hours. Funding: The Society is a not-for-profit organisation. The charges for entry and admission only cover 50% of production costs. We are extremely grateful for the additional funding that comes from generous sponsors, businesses, local and state government, individuals and families, committee, and some volunteers themselves. As well as major sponsors, you will find many people sponsoring individual sections dear to their hearts. However we would welcome more new friends to share the path to excellence.
