Reservoir Exploration Technology ASA (RXT) is the only marine geophysical company specializing in multi-component seafloor seismic data acquisition. There are two primary categories of marine seismic acquisition; conventional towed streamer seismic (TSS) and modern ocean bottom seismic (OBS). OBC uses multi-component technology which provides higher quality data as well as several other benefits over conventional methods. In OBS, sensors are placed directly on the seafloor in contrast to traditional TSS where sensors are towed through the water column. Towing streamers imposes limitations on the capabilities of this method such as increased noise, short offsets, narrow azimuths and reduced flexibility. While new TSS techniques have been developed in an attempt to address such issues, they typically require increased effort for what is ultimately an inferior result compared to seafloor methods. Ocean bottom seismic offers solutions to these limitations as well as a range of additional benefits. RXT has offices in Oslo, Norway, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Houston, Texas. In addition RXT is represented in Brazil by GeoRXT, a joint venture between RXT and Brazilian Georadar Levantamentos Geofisicos S/A (Georadar) where RXT owns 45% and Georadar 55%. RXT is listed on the stock exchange in Norway. Please visit us at www.rxt.com for further information about RXT.
