The Sherrard Community Unit School District #200 is a Pre-K through 12th grade district located in Rock Island and Mercer Counties in the northwestern part of Illinois. Sherrard has a strong tradition of academic and athletic excellence, community support and parental involvement. The district is located just south of the Quad Cities and encompasses 182 square miles. Agriculture is deeply rooted in the community's history; however, many residents now work in the Quad Cities. There isn't a large town within the school district boundaries, but there are numerous smaller towns including New Windsor, Viola, Matherville, Sherrard and Coyne Center. A sizeable housing development called Fyre Lake is located on the southeast outskirts of Sherrard. About two-thirds of the district lies in Mercer County.
