www.mmsa.net

The Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (MMSA) is a 501(c)(6) professional organization composed of senior level mining professionals dedicated to increasing public awareness of responsible mining and why mined materials are essential to society and human well-being. Our members have expertise in mining, metallurgy, geology, finance, law, and all related disciplines supporting best practice in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) that underpin responsible mineral development. Membership in MMSA is invitation based and candidates must demonstrate the highest level of leadership, technical competence, ethical standards, and a desire to support the mission and interests of the Society. Since its inception in 1908, MMSA has offered guidance on policy issues ranging from protection of workers and investors to the responsible development of mineral resources on public lands. MMSA was instrumental in the establishment of the former U.S. Bureau of Mines and continues to support legislation and efficient regulatory frameworks that will enable innovation and create jobs without compromising environmental quality or safety standards. Through management of its Jackling Fund, MMSA sponsors educational outreach programs, scholarships, and events. MMSA fosters collaboration by convening multi-stakeholder forums around timely complex issues such as the Minerals for a Green Society Symposium and its ongoing Abandoned Mine Land Summits. Several informational webinar series covering a wide spectrum of topics are free to members and the general public. Our ability to meet the societal challenges ahead requires a holistic materials strategy that runs the gamut from mining to recycling. These materials are critical to bringing about technological transformations today that will allow us to leave a positive legacy for future generations. A well-trained workforce, technical professionals, and competent leadership are integral to producing these materials responsibly.
