www.renogalliera.itThe Reno Galliera Union brings together eight municipalities in the metropolitan area of Bologna: Argelato, Bentivoglio, Castello d'Argile, Castel Maggiore, Galliera, Pieve di Cento, San Giorgio di Piano and San Pietro in Casale. It owes its name to the Reno River that bathes its municipalities and to the Galliera provincial road that runs through its territory, between Bologna and Ferrara. There are 75,193 residents (as of 12/31/2021) and the territory occupies a large portion (295.56 sq. m.) of the plain northeast of Bologna. Founded as an Association in 2001, it became a Union of Municipalities in June 2008, transforming itself to all intents and purposes into a Territorial Public Body, endowed with legal personality and governed by a President, a Council made up of the eight Mayors, and a Council composed of the Mayors themselves and a representation of the municipal councils. With its 217 employees, the Union manages, on behalf of its member municipalities, numerous services: general, personal, management, and territorial garrison services.
