Picture the most precious thing you own. Who do you rely on to protect it? You may not realize it, but if you value the breathtaking beauty of The Bahamas, you are already relying on us – The Bahamas National Trust. We are the national park service of The Bahamas. We are the caretakers, protectors, and voice of The Bahamas’ most precious natural resource, its unique and diverse national park system. National parks are defenders of the environment. They are special areas that have been set aside to ensure that the natural beauty and richness of The Bahamas remain for the enjoyment and benefit of future generations. National parks are also natural barometers of our environment that tell us when there is cause for concern. Our work, however, involves so much more than national park management. We touch the lives of 20,000 people annually with our award-winning educational and outreach programmes, which use the national parks as outdoor classrooms that awe and inspire people to become lifelong caretakers of our most precious natural resources. We conduct important scientific research to protect economically important fisheries, conserve critically endangered species, and inform governmental policies. Simply put, our work is anything but simple.
