A Different Point of View nonprofit
www.adifferentpointofview.orgA Different Point of View (ADPOV) is an innovative youth mentorship nonprofit based in Santa Barbara, California. We engage, inspire and transform students using flight lessons as a launching pad. Through aviation education and mentoring, show youth a world they've never seen before. Our vision is to expand their consciousness and how they see the world by giving them different points of view. Through our Aviation Career Program, youth come away with a new understanding of options the aviation world has to offer and their potential place in it. They gain self-confidence, self-advocacy and the belief that they can succeed in the world. Our purpose is to give them the tools to live a full and meaningful life. During the one day and three day Aviation Career Program students are offered the following opportunities: Professional Flight Lessons, Leadership and Self Awareness Training, Full Motion Flight Simulator Training, Workshops in Air Traffic Control Communication, Workshops in Airframe & Power Plant Mechanics, Engagement with Leaders in the Aviation Industry, Field Trips to Aviation Facilities & Events and year round Mentoring. In 2017 ADPOV brought Aviation 101 and Leadership training to LaCuesta Continuation High School. This program gives junior and senior high school students exposure to job opportunities in the aviation fields as well as education in the following: Leadership; Learning to fly a plane or drone; Air Traffic Control communication and Aircraft maintenance. Students who successfully complete the six week program are offered a one day Aviation Career Program that takes place at the Santa Barbara Airport. ADPOV also offers Discovery Days. Days in which students are taken on field trips to various organizations or adventures. Examples are: Vandenberg Air Force Base to build and launch model rockets or ocean adventures, trips that show youth a world they've never seen before. Flight training at Above All Aviation.
