The Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia (RMA) is the oldest and largest non-profit community music school (501c3) in southwest Virginia. Founded in 1993, the RMA serves as a center in the region where students of all ages and levels of ability can explore the world of music and reach their highest potential in learning to play an instrument. Lessons are offered in piano, violin, viola, cello, and guitar. For toddlers, early childhood music classes are offered as an introduction to music; Ensemble opportunities include chamber music, violin group, cello group, guitar group, junior orchestra, and the RMA chamber orchestra. String lessons are taught in the Suzuki method. Students have monthly opportunities to perform in recitals as well as numerous outreach opportunities for performing in the community throughout the year.
