Community Credit Union was formed in 2010 through the merger of Premier Credit Union (formed in 1962) and Clonsilla Credit Union (formed in 1982), operating in the Dublin 7 and Dublin 15 areas. This merger was the first stage of a strategic development plan designed to grow the Credit Union to meet anticipated challenges and develop member services. West Cabra Credit Union West Cabra Credit Union was formed in 1967 to serve the community of West Cabra. It focused on steadily building a financially robust organisation, operating initially from rented premises before building a dedicated premises in 1984. Following the recent merger with West Cabra Credit Union in 2015, Community Credit Union now has 4 offices, 42 staff and a membership exceeding 35,000 Clonsilla and Premier Credit Unions. In recommending this course of action to, and getting the approval of our members, we followed international best practice and the recommendations of key stakeholders such as The Irish League of Credit Unions and the Financial Regulator. Most importantly however, it was driven by the needs of our Members. Following the merger we now have assets of over €120m and a membership that exceeds 30,000 people.
