Hermanos Unidos (HU) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1999 at UC Santa Barbara, that promotes professional & leadership development for Chicano/Latino men through our pursuit of "El Nuevo Hombre". Hermanos Unidos was founded on three pillars: Academic Excellence, Community Service, and Social Interaction. The three pillars of Hermanos Unidos reflect the primary reason why an Hermano attends an institution of higher learning: to receive a quality education. Community Service represents an Hermano’s commitment to community involvement and giving back to those who helped us get to where we are today. Social Networking will seek to make the transition from high school & community college to undergraduate life less traumatic and more meaningful for incoming Hermanos. The fulfillment of the three pillars leads to the development of “El Nuevo Hombre”, which is the individual and collective goal of this organization. Hermanos Unidos has been a strong presence on the UCSB campus for nearly 20 years now, and continues to strive to improve Latinx graduation rates in higher education. The organization prides itself in its values, professional development, and its creation of Hermandad for its members.
