The Department of Politics, People and Place (PPP) is home to a range of exciting and timely undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our specialist subject areas are Politics, Public Policy and Local Government, International Relations, International Political Economy, Human Resource Management, Air Transport Management and Project Management. We have a vibrant and diverse academic team of subject experts, with proven excellence in teaching and research, and national and international experience. We offer courses and expert tuition in all core areas of our subjects, delivering research-informed and engaging teaching and learning in British and European politics, public policy, local government, urban studies, political theory. Our students are part of a learning experience that is inclusive, interactive and engaging. Our modules provide students a wide range of opportunities to engage with the world of practice and develop specialist knowledge and applied research methods skills. We have a thriving research community and are home to three internationally recognised research centres, developing cutting edge work on urban studies and austerity (CURA), local governance and public policy (LGRC), and work and employment (POWI). We also have research expertise in Transport Management and Education. Our research centres regularly host seminars, workshops and public lectures, and are home to a vibrant post-graduate research community. Our academic staff regularly feature in the news and offer expert commentary at national and international level, as well as providing support and advice to government bodies and practitioners.
