NSU ACM-W Student Chapter
ACM-W Student Chapters around the world has been playing the role of an umbrella organization for fostering academic and scholarly interests in computer science. With a noble aim to provide a connecting field for female students of computer science under the shade of the internationally recognized premier professional organization for computing professionals. NSU ACM-W (Association of Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing) has been initiated as an affiliated organization of NSU ACM Student Chapter. It bears the goal to build a support network for students who are underrepresented, to celebrate their contribution and advocate internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services. As part of the first ACM Student Chapter in Bangladesh, NSU ACM Student Chapter created another milestone by initiating the first ACM-W Chapter in Bangladesh as their affiliated community. On 12th June,2017, NSU ACM-W Student Chapter was officially chartered. Mrs. Tamanna Motaher, Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NSU, has adorned the position of the faculty sponsor of NSU ACM-W Chapter. In alignment with the mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the vision of ACM, the student branch is primarily focused on providing female students with self-improvement opportunities through activities similar to workshops, seminars, training programs and competitions through close collaboration the global ACM community. In addition to this, the student chapter also provides opportunities to meet distinguished computing professionals and grow their skills and learn more. ACM-W chapter does all these things in keeping with the mission of the community to involve women into the field of technology and computer science as much as they can.
