The EduCare Initiative

The EduCare Initiative is a National non-profit that provides training for educators to help improve educational outcomes for young people in/from care. The training we offer is a one-of-a-kind, 3-hour online training program developed in partnership with Youth in Care Canada to promote positive graduation outcomes for young people in and from care. Designed and facilitated by young people with child welfare lived experience, the EduCare Initiative asks you to consider: - Trauma informed approaches in school-settings (and beyond) - Intersectionality and the overrepresentation of Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ2A+ and disabled young people in care - Family privilege and the experience of being “in care" - The significance of a relational approach The EduCare Initiative has gone through an extensive program evaluation. First, with young people in and from care and more recently with educators and child welfare professionals across Canada. Feedback has been exceptionally positive and we are ready to launch in school boards/districts, post-secondary institutions and child welfare organizations this fall. Message us today for partnership or training info!
