Gloria Dei is a welcoming, open and inclusive community of Lutheran believers associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Our congregation is devoted to a number of causes such as: CREATION CARE With Pet Partners of Greater Dallas, we offer our facilities to assist in training and acclimating therapy animals. Our annual Blessing of The Animals service is held under a large tent in front of the church each Fall. Providing access to low cost vaccinations, medicines and spay and neuter services. We host, foster and re-home unwanted cats, in conjunction with Feral Friends. MUSIC MINISTRY We have been very blessed when it comes to our Music Ministry at Gloria Dei. We have several members for whom music is a career. Our choir may be small, but we sure do make a joyful noise. Our keyboardist is also a composer and has written and arranged several pieces just for Gloria Dei. MUSIC THERAPY Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. Our Joyful Singers are a music therapy group that provides opportunities for friendship, planning, decision-making, and performing. SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES We are a member of Faith In Texas, a multi-racial, faith movement for social justice. Some of the issues of interest to us are: racism, sexism and usurious interest rates and financial abuse of those down on their luck. We advocate for those who are unable to do so for themselves. CARING FOR THE MARGINALIZED We partner with a number of other churches and organizations to provide food, service and shelter to the homeless through a variety of outreach methods. A number of our members have volunteered with GLOWS to provide temporary housing to the homeless among us during times of severe inclement weather.
