The Stony Brook Athletic Bands program is comprised of The Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band & Varsity Band. The program has more than 200 academically-driven students with a passion for music, spirit, and community. The instrumentation of the band consists of piccolo/flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone/euphonium, sousaphone, marching percussion (snare, tenors, bass, cymbals; we do not have a pit / front ensemble), color guard (flags only), and one feature twirler. The band includes members from almost 20 states across the country and has had international students from South Korea and China. The Band provides the opportunity to continue making music and to be part of an exciting, dynamic organization.
