UCL Statistics Society
Founded in 1982, the UCL Statistics Society is one of the largest university statistics societies in the UK. We aim to provide our members with exciting opportunities to explore their interests and skills, through the organisation and promotion of careers events (with an emphasis on statistics and economics), lectures by guest speakers, assistance sessions by senior students and socials. The Department of Statistical Science of University College London, part of the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, was founded in 1911 by Karl Pearson as the first university statistics department in the world. Several foundational advances in modern statistics were made here, including correlation, regression, Pearson frequency curves, chi-squared distribution and classical statistical inference.
